Earlier this month, Silkroad joined the Harvard Graduate School of Education to host the fifth Arts and Passion-Driven Learning (APL) Institute, bringing 100 teachers and teaching artists together to explore the role of listening in learning. The institute — which included arts experiences, group conversations, and panel discussions — was led by 20 faculty members, including members of the Silk Road Ensemble and guest presenter Glynn MacDonald.
Listen to Glynn, master of movement at Shakespeare’s Globe in London, reflect on her experience at APL:
“What a piece of work is a man!
How noble in reason!
In form, in moving, how express and admirable!
In action how like an angel!
In apprehension how like a god!
The beauty of the world!”
— Hamlet (II.ii.303-308)
